You found us. Maybe someone sent you a TikTok. Maybe Nashville Scene told you to come. Maybe you just drove past on Buchanan Street and the smell made the decision for you. Either way, welcome. Here is everything you need to not waste your first visit.

Where We Are and What to Expect

We are at 1402 Buchanan Street in North Nashville, in the Buchanan Arts District. About 10 minutes from downtown. Street parking along Buchanan is usually fine. If you have never been to this part of Nashville, good. You have been missing something.

Walk in and take a second. The vibe is intentional. 90s nostalgia everywhere. Hip-hop and R&B playing the way it should play in a restaurant, which is to say loud enough to actually feel it. Cinema and gaming references in the decor. It does not look like every other Nashville restaurant because it is not every other Nashville restaurant.

The Short Version

Bag Lady's is a loaded fry restaurant with a full bar, a smash burger that will make you rethink your burger opinions, and a seasoning shaker that comes with every order. The fries are hand cut and cooked in beef tallow. No, this is not a chain. There is one. It is on Buchanan Street.

What to Order on Your First Visit

You are here for the Savage Fries. That is the signature category: six styles of loaded fries, each named after something that tells you exactly what is going on inside the basket.

On your first visit, pick one of these two. They are the most ordered for a reason.

Both are made to order. Both come with Day One Dust. Both will make the person who did not order them wish they had ordered them.

Day One Dust. Use It. All of It.

Every order comes with a Day One Dust shaker. This is not optional seasoning. This is part of how the food is supposed to taste. There are three.

The Original

Savory-sweet secret blend. The one that makes people ask what is in it. We do not answer that question.

Nacho Cheese

Sharp cheddar, salty, savory. Good on everything. Great on the plain fries if you want to keep it simple.

Fuego

Chili and lime heat. The one you reach for when the hot chicken fries are not quite enough.

The name comes from day one on Gallatin Pike. One order that first day. Zero quit. The seasoning is named for that. Use it like you mean it.

The Rest of the Menu You Should Know About

The Savage Fries are the headline but they are not the whole story.

  • The Smash Burger: Comeback sauce, pickles, shredded lettuce, American cheese, brioche bun. Reviews describe it as "massive, juicy, and packed with flavor -- easily one of the best I've had in a long time." That is a direct quote from a real person. We did not make that up.
  • Chicken Tenders: Hand-breaded, fried golden, served with buttery Texas toast and your choice of 11 sauces. Eleven. The overachiever option.
  • Proper Wings: Crispy fried wings in your choice of sauce. Order these as an add-on to your fries. You will not regret it.
  • Funnel Cake Fries: Powdered sugar, optional strawberry or caramel drizzle. Order these last. Or first. There are no rules here.
  • Build-A-Bag: Choose your base (fries, chips, or cauliflower), then load it with your choice of protein, cheese, and sauce. The vegan option (No Capp) lives here too, and it is legitimately good, not "good for vegan food" good.

The Bar. Yes There Is a Bar.

Ten house cocktails. Local craft beer on tap from Yazoo and Bearded Iris, two of Nashville's best. Wine by the glass. A proper happy hour that runs 3 to 6 PM and 9 to 10 PM every day, plus all day Wednesday and Sunday.

All day Wednesday and Sunday happy hour is not an accident. It is a gift. Use it.

Pro Move

Come during happy hour. Order the brisket fries and a local draft. Sit somewhere with a good view of the room. This is what people mean when they say Nashville has changed in the best way possible.

Need the Truck at Your Event?

Everything you are about to eat here is available for your event. The same hand-cut fries, the same beef tallow, the same Savage Fries that people cannot stop talking about. The food truck that started everything on Gallatin Pike is still running and still available for corporate events, weddings, birthday parties, and anything else Nashville throws at us.

Check your date and see if we are available. Three minutes. Real person responds same day.
